A couple of years ago, I heard of a journalist setting himself a goal to read one book every week for a whole year. I thought that was very ambitious but nevertheless a great motivation to read more (less computer/phone screen time, we need it!). I modified this goal for myself and vowed to read one book every two weeks for 2017. That goal was reached in December 2017 and I thought “Let’s do the same for 2018”. So far it’s going according to plan!
For anyone interested, and because I just compiled this list for a friend, here are my top 5 books from 1.5 years of reading:
1: Cutting for Stone – Abraham Verges
2: The Sympathizer – Viet Tangh Nguyen
3: The gift of rain – Tan Twan Eng
4: The Underground Railroad – Colson Whitehead
Joint 5:The stranger in the woods – Michael Finkel
Joint 5: A prayer for Owen Meany – John Irving
I also really enjoyed the latest Barbara Kingsolver novels; she never disappoints. Happy Reading!
