Update

Sorry, it’s been a while since I have posted news on this blog. All of August rushed by in a blur as I was trying to deal with the loss of my beloved dog. I will post more on this when I can stomach it. It’s still raw and hard to hold back the tears. […]

The big 4-0

Well, it has come and gone, and I have now joined the “40-something” club! I had plenty of opportunity to celebrate my big birthday, and I am blessed with wonderful friends who partied with me. First, Mona (who also had a big birthday this month!) and I invited our cycling buddies to spend a weekend

Canadian Rockies

The month of July has been declared national “Celebrate Biggi’s big birthday” month 🙂 We had the chance to leave for a week and explore the Canadian Rockies on a pre-birthday getaway (the birthday bash with Mona and friends in New Denver is still to come …). Awesome scenery, great places to explore, lots of

First Ultra Done

Completed my first “ultra” today … if only the distance of 25km. Very steep, dusty and rocky most of the way from lake level to Divide Lake on top of a 1430m high mountain! What a climb, and what a downhill. Surprisingly my quads and feet held up, and I was happy to get into

We just completed the Golden Triangle, a 3-day cycling trip through the Rockies, organized by the Elbow Valley Cycling Club. And organized they were! Our

Kitchen Renos Done

Finally, after quite a few weeks of chaos in my house, the much-anticipated kitchen renovations are completed! A new dark-grey concrete countertop was installed, and the walls improved with a glass/marble backsplash. Then I painted the whole room blue to match the new colors and voila … a much prettier sight now!

Training Update

Training for my Half Ironman race in June is on track … I have been running many kilometers on the trails in Myra Bellevue Park, trying to build the leg strength for a half marathon after 90km on the bike. And our cycling group (the Killer Beez) has been doing longer rides, for example 112km yesterday

Ski 2 Sea 2011

Our team for the Ski2Sea race this year did amazingly well! We improved last year’s time by almost 30 min, and everybody seemed to enjoy their legs! Richard started off with the fastest ever time for the Alpine leg (tough run up a ski run followed by “some” skiing!), after which I took over for
